Quilt Homework for Memorial Day
Searching for patriotic photos and material for the Memorial Day holiday unearthed some old and new sources for the study of quilts, their history, trends and present day winners. Those who do this on a regular basis need no introduction to the reference works on the subject, but here are some of the lesser known sources on the subject: The Smithsonian Collection, Library of Congress, PBS Films on Great American Quilts, Amazon book search for quilts and Google search for photos and printed materials and all materials having to do with the Great American Quilt Contest of 1976. Below is one link to get you started. Remember: everything old is new again and that there is a rich history to our art. Happy homework and Happy Memorial Day.
