More Fabric Shopping for a Snowy Day
More spring fabrics for a snowy day: Celestial Dreams (tm) from Laurel Burch for Clothworks is a cheery, vaguely astrological based fabric and panel in bright primary colors. Not too many folks like bold colors in their bedrooms, but I do. I would use this fabric for decorative pillows, kids’ quilts, wall hangings, and tote bags and novelties. Check it out. If you know someone who is influenced by horoscopes, or have a kid to sew for (either gender), this fabric would be perfect for either quilts or wallhangings.
Who among us has not been desperate for time to finish a homemade gift and has resorted to cheater fabric? Three Cheers Fabric is done in a square within a square motif on a tan/ecru ground, with smoky blues, reds and greens in the squares and partial squares. Whether you use this for the front or back of a quilt or for clothing it is fine enough to trick the eye of a non quilter.
There are some fun Scrabble ® fabrics out there for your kindergarten kid or one learning to read.
The Batik Jewels Collection is so gorgeous, it is tempting to use them in lieu of solids.
I see a lot of smoky lavender and green this Spring Season, and teamed with
pale yellow or tan it is a welcome combination.
For you Aunt Grace fans, Keepsake has a block of the month scheme that will save your sanity from choosing among such a broad array of fabrics. Some of the Gee’s Bend quilts are appearing as kits.
I don’t do gadgets, but I must comment that you can now purchase your cutting mat in red!
Until the next snow day which is three days away.
